From the simulator into the real cockpit!

A fascinating introduction into the world of flying:  Enjoy your first experience with flying apparatus and weather conditions in the flight simulator in the Lufthansa commercial flight training school at Bremer airport, and later on, on a distance flight, you take the controls yourself!

At 9am you start at the Bremen commercial flying school: You acquire the basic knowledge for your successful simulator flight in the briefing; we explain how aeroplanes actually fly and explain drive, landing flaps, artificial horizon and thrust reversers. Then it’s take-off:  You sit in the pilot’s seat and taxi to the starting position, thrust and take off at nearly 200km/hr, retract the wheels … and fly! After a successful flight, you'll make the softest possible landing at an international airport of your choice.

After in the flight you have the chance to discuss your flight experiences in a debriefing, before in the Bremenhalle of the airport you see the famous Ju W33 “Bremen”, with which in 1928 the Lufthansa pilots Köhl and von Hünefeld first crossed the Atlantic from east to west. The original space lab is right next door: After more than 20 shuttle flights, the world space laboratory returned to its place of manufacture in Bremen in 1999. Particularly impressive: At the aircraft workshop of the Lufthansa commercial flying school, a pilot instructor will introduce you to the fascinating world of flying on a walk around.  After these striking experiences, we’ll serve you lunch, airline style: Just the right meal for future pilots.

Then things really kick off in the afternoon: After a little more theory of flying, the first group takes off with a Cessna 172 or a Piper PA28,to fly in the direction of Bremerhaven and the North Sea. High above the clouds, you’ll take over the controls. The flight lasts around three hours, until you can reach solid ground again in Bremerhaven. The second group will take the bus to Bremerhaven; while they are enjoying their flight over the sea and back, the first group will take the bus to Bremen, to greet the flyers there at a group meal in the 'Blixx' restaurant.
