The Embraer E-Jets are a family of aircraft of the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer with two engines and seating for 70-118 people. A characteristic feature is the long narrow double-circle hull with 2 +2 seating. Similar to the Airbus family concept, the other models of this product range are only versions of the basic model Embraer 170. Also the silhouette shows a similar design as the competitor from Europe.
Officially, the Embraer program was launched in June 1999 at the Paris Air Show with the Swiss regional airline Crossair as launch customer. Since then the aircraft has been well received worldwide; certifications in India and China are just as natural as success on the European or American markets. The cockpit is equipped with advanced avionics and a conventional yoke whose shape is reminiscent of the wheel of the Concorde or, in other words, of a twisted bicycle handlebar.
