The Canadair Jet, twin-jet regional aircraft from the Canadian manufacturer Bombardier, is by numbers the sixth-most successful civil aircraft in the postwar period. After the first variants of the 50 seat low-wing plane, extended versions were added over the years, last the CRJ1000 for up to 104 passengers.
The two-pilot cockpit features modern avionics; screen technology, redundant inertial navigation and a "Flight Management System" are just as self-evident as the collision warning system TCAS or an optional "Head Up Guidance System", enabling bad weather approaches up to category Cat IIIa - a visibility when even birds prefer to walk. First customer for this trendsetter plane, by the way, was German Lufthansa.
It's pure joy to experience a take-off with the Canadair Jet. As if drawn by a rubber band, the aircraft catapults itself silently with increasing acceleration in the skies.
