Since April 2005 there's a new ruler in civil aviation: The Airbus A380 carries on two through-deck up to 853 passengers and 20 crew members. Cockpit layout and system designs are made in the typical Airbus concept that is known from A320, A330 and A340. This high degree of commonality within the family, Airbus pilots and maintenance technicians need less training time for the mega-airliner.
The reconstruction costs for new A380 destinations are considerable, and in airport logistics there are many tricky tasks to be solved: taxiways and runways need extra authorizations, and the passenger terminal is a huge challenge for airport operators.
